So, you want to be a writer.

You are in the right place! TrendSetters Press was born from my desire to build a company of my own in a business I love. Books. Reading. Learning. Imagination.

I have been an avid reader for my whole life. I love a great story and how it makes me feel. There are so many genres and sub-genres to explore I never get tired of reading.

To get these great books it requires writers. No one is born a great writer, as with all things you need to explore, learn, practice and grow.

Explore the various genres and find the ones that appeal to you most. Go deeper until you discover exactly what appeals to you most, find that niche that makes you say “Yes! That is the type of book I want to write!”

Next, begin to learn everything you can about that genre and sub-genre. Is there a standard construct to the stories? What are the characters like? What setting do you find? Find several favorite authors in the genre and read everything. How are their stories structured? What makes their characters special? How do their stories differ from others in the same genre?

Once you have a core vision on how you want your books to read, start writing. Start with short stories. Create your characters. Develop a plot outline to get you from point A to point B. Design your setting. Then start writing. Write it again and again and again. Keep writing and re-writing until it sounds the way you want. Then start another short story and do the process all over again.

Find people to give you helpful and constructive feedback. Join our writers forums to ask questions and get the feedback that will help you move forward. The more you write and interact with others for feedback and support, the better you will get.
